1 Year without smoking - Challenge Accepted Intro

Hello and thank you for reading. Ok so this is no tutorial, but it will be the introduction of how I quit smoking weed for a year to disprove the people that say it is addictive. I believe it is addicting, but it is at the level of addiction as tv, reality shows, video games, as in it is only a mental addiction. It is all in the mind. So technically anything can become an addiction.

My Theory: It is all mental with weed as opposed to with cigarettes which contain nicotine. Nicotine affects you physically. It makes your body ask for it. It gets your body addicted.

Now today a friend sent me a link. This one in particular

Now on the 2nd page of that article and it is listed as the 1# argument. He kind of throws out a challenge.

"Now, once again, it's widely believed that pot is much easier to quit than smoking, booze, heroin, and just about every other drug out there. But the belief that 'it's not addictive' is bullshit. Want an easy way to see if you're addicted? Give it up for a year. I have a feeling that would be tough for a lot of you, considering how many can't go one fucking week without working it into a conversation. It's tough to give up something that you've built your entire personality around."

So this is exactly what I will do, I will put my words into actions.

Also that last sentence "It's tough to give up something that you've built your entire personality around." Honestly a lot of people that know me in real life. Actually most people that know me in real life, do not even know I smoke cannabis. A lot of people that know me via Facebook or via some internet mean do know I smoke, because recently I have gotten tired of hiding the fact that I do it. So I have kind of come to admit to it on the internet. So the ones that really know me in real life. Will have to read this twice and will probably contact me asking if it really is me or they are just confused. Why? Well because I have not "built an entire personality around" cannabis.

Ok so how will this work? Well I will try to answer as much as I can here. OK, so for this experiment I will stop smoking weed/thc/marijuana/cannabis, while my friend who has developed a nicotine habit, will stop smoking/dipping/in taking nicotine. Ok so we will log anything that we feel that has changed since we stopped. Example, if all of a sudden I begin to drink a lot of alcohol(btw, I don't smoke nicotine or drink alcohol anymore, I have been clean for at least 2 months of nicotine and about 5 months of alcohol). If all of a sudden I begin to drink a lot or eat a lot, I will record this. As it may be a drawback or effect of the fact that my body is trying to replace its need for THC with something else.

My friend will do the same. Now I know we have not signed any legal contract or anything like that. Actually now that I think about this, I might type up a contract and post it so public can see. I will try and get it notarized and made official. Lets suppose that I am not able to do that. Then, this whole experiment will have to really on the fact that I myself and my friend who is helping me tell the truth. I give my word, that I will tell the truth of what happens. I really want to disprove what was mention in that article, so I give my word. My friend has given his word as well.

Like I said I will try to make this legally official, and get a notarized contract. I do not guarantee this, but I will try.

OK, so how this all started. Here is my first log. I will try to include more info on future logs. My friend does not wish to be public. So I will hide his identity by changing his name. He will be known as CT. The public log will change his name, but the official log, will be stored in a server in which only him and I have access to.The official log will have every single detail and nothing will be uncensored. So just in case this experiment happens to go big and someone wants to see every single detail. Then I will have access to it and show them everything that went on. I am the only one who is allowed to modify the logs, but I must inform him every time I do. He also has the power to check the exact time the log was modified, and he wants me to quit smoking so he will be honest with you all. If I happen to modify log without his consent, then that will send my word to shit, and you can all say this exp was fixed or what ever you wish to believe. So he is monitoring me. The reason why I will filter public one is not to try and hide me smoking or anything like that. The reason is because my friend would not like his family to find out.

A few things to keep in mind if you will be following up. I will go by tony in public log for short, and my friend will go as CT for id purposes. I have requested one of my good friends who is a writer and owns an online magazine, to proof read my work. He has not responded as of this moment, but hopefully he will take care of spell check and grammar check. If anybody else is interested in being a spell checker, I would appreciate it. Normally I would fire it up, but as you can see. Beginning Sat midday, I will not be able to smoke anymore :p.

You used to be such a good boy

This is not a tutorial... yea I know I haven't been posting tutorials. I have been lazy! That and the I do not have that much time to research stuff. A lot of things are going on right now, so what ever.

So you know what I dislike? When people tell me "you used to be such a good boy Tony". I am like WTF, I still am. I love helping people any chance I get, and by help I mean help out of my own free will, not do stuff they should be doing ,but they take advantage of me and make me do it for the price my valuable time. I will not let someone take advantage of me, especially if they are ungrateful. Don't get it confused.

I haven't killed anyone. I haven't stolen from anyone. I have not harmed anyone physically and as far as I know no one emotionally. I never gave a fuck about school, and I still don't. The only thing that is interfering with my learning is my education. Nothing has changed, well I guess that is a lie. Everyone changes, I have to change. I used to live under a free roof, free food, my babies running around making me laugh and making my day. Now I live alone, well I have a roommate, but I mean alone as in without my family. Yes I miss them and I love them all and I am really grateful for my life. The point I am trying to make is. I went from not having to pay for much to having to pay for everything. Obviously I had to have changed in order to go through a change like this. I am in college now and a few miles away from my mom. Obviously I had to change, but what I mean by not change. Is that I am still the same, like. I am still "good".

Yea I do illegal things, but who decides what is legal and what is not? Do you even know? A lot of people form the United States do not. I do illegal things, but who am I hurting? Who am I harming and why can you judge me in a negative way. When you are over at your computer downloading your mainstream songs, which breaks copyright laws. You too are doing illegal stuff, but to you it is normal. The things I do are part of my life and are normal to me. What do I want most in this world? Happiness :), not self happiness, because I just have to log onto my facebook, go to one of my sisters profiles and go to their pictures and take a look at my 4 babies. That will always put a smile on my face, I am happy with life. Yea I don't have the best things or a lot of money, but happiness is what you make it. I am really happy :), I had a blowout not too long ago. If that had happened a few weeks ago, I would not have the money to pay for it. Luckily I have 2 jobs, all my paycheck and some went into getting those 2 new tires, but what did I do? I laughed at it. It was kinda funny actually. I mean why get mad and gripe? See I do not follow any current religion, and that's another thing people judge me about.

Just because I do not follow a religion does not make me a bad person. See I just smiled as I watched my paycheck go into the blowout, yea I forgot to mention I had to miss work for that day so... yea. I did not get mad or gripe, I just let it play patiently waited for my father(Thanks dad :)). I have seen people who get nervous, sad, worried, mad because everything is going wrong in their life. Who are these people? The so called good religious people. If you truly believe in your god, doesn't he do things for a reason? Why get mad? See me on the other hand I do not believe that a being has us here to worship him and he just throws little monkey wrenches when a lot of other things are going "bad" in life. See what I believe is that the tire exploded because of the heat. My tires still had a little bit of life left, but they were nearly due for a change. With Texas heat, tire tend to expand and explode. I call it science. What happened to me. The conditions were perfect for a blowout, had the blow out not happened, that would have been the true miracle. I am not saying religion is bad, but if it can not help you make the best of your problems and in some cases brings you more problems. What is so "good" about that? If you truly believe in your religion, I respect that. If you are just using that as a way to present yourself to the public as a "good" person, then so be it. Just don't expect any respect from my part, but also don't expect any negative responses :p.

Ok back on topic, the point I was trying to make is. I am a good person. If you come to me for help, I will be their for you if you truly need me. To the best of my ability, weather I just met you a minute ago, or I have known you all my life. If you truly need help, you can turn to me and if their is anything I can do to help, I will do it. Even if I have to sacrifice something of mine. Weather it be a material thing or time what ever that is I am willing to do it. Because we are one race, we are all one and everyone deserves to be happy.

Now why did I just go on rambling about this? Well because a lot of people do not see the reality of the world. Sorry if someone from a distant country is reading this. Most of this is directed to a United States audience. A lot of other countries are ahead of this great country. So I feel like I have to direct my attention to United States first.

Lets point out some facts. Politicians are bullshit. Not necessary the candidate themselves, but the system. Did you know that when this great nation was established, everyone was supposed to be free. A lot of the founders had just escaped their land because of kings or other people telling them what to do and how to live. They established this great country, but what has happened to this great country? Well it got invaded by entertainment. I mean come on, what do you do with your free time? Do you do something you truly enjoy? Or do you just watch other live their lives and compare it to yours. If you do, then obviously you will begin to think that your life is so much bad, and you need to fix this so you can live a life like them. You worship these people. I am talking about reality shows, soap operas etc. This country has been shot down. Look at the joke of an education system we have. Really people? If you think this country has a great education tell me. Where are Chinese from? Where are Jews from? Answer will be at end of blog pst. Look at this system, its just a joke.

Ok back to what I was saying another fact. This country is not run by the majority of the people, how it was originally planned to be. It is run by money and the select few that have control over it.

Why is it legal for you to be sent to jail, because you downloaded a song onto your hardrive or audio player? Well because if you download it, you probably did not pay for it, so someone lost money. Key word money. This country is run by money. Look at all the bullshit laws that the people(I guess I should include myself, although I must mention I am not a citizen of this great country. I belong to a beautiful country, who is also run in a corrupt way, but not as extensive as this country.) have let pass. They are removing your freedom while you sit their and watch reality shows. Reality shows? its on the fucking tv, whats so real about that, go out and live your life. Educate yourself, because this countries education system is not doing it for you. Educate your self and your kids, with true knowledge.

Ok so now that we have established that this country runs on money lets take a look at my hobbies. I am tired of hiding the fact that I smoke cannabis. Yes I do, and I have been doing it for a while. I keep it quite for a few reasons. 1 is because a lot of people have such negativity towards it. They do not understand the facts and why it is even illegal. I bet you did not know that THC, the chemical in cannabis that gets you "high", can also destroy cancer cells. Yea it won't cure your tumor, but it can help your body destroy cells that may later turn into cancerous cells. Why is it illegal? You tell me. Ok If you don't know, then I'll tell you the reason which why it was made illegal. It was made illegal because it made "Negros want to rape white women". Oh shit that sounds horrible, maybe I should stop smoking before I want to rape white women. First of all, I have been smoking for years, now more than in the past. I have never wanted to rape a women. I know plenty of my African American homies, who smoke killa weed and they have not raped any white women. So why is it illegal still? If you think you know feel free to comment with the answer. Yea it is illegal, no arguing that, but does that make it bad? Give me 3 negative things about marijuana, it being legal does not count. If you think everything that is illegal is bad, then stop growing vegetables in your front yard, because even though you pay taxes and probably get a way better nutrition from naturally grown vegetables it can get you sent to jail.

This post is long and might not make much sense. I am just typing and expressing the thoughts that approach my mind first. Feel free to ask me any questions. This post was, made to justify what I do. I am tired of people telling me you used to be such a good boy. I still am. I still consider myself good, yea I do some illegal activities, but like I said who am I hurting? I just want everyone or who ever bothers to read this, that I am a good person and I am tired of people telling me that I used to be good. I will probably re read this and come back and add and modify some stuff. I just wanted to get stuff off my chest. Thank you if you read this, stay tuned I will modify this.

so lets blog. I have no interesting topics to write about, so i'll just go on about my day or my current taught. My spelling and grammar might be crap, because its not a tutorial or anything just me blogging.

I am sitting at work bored, finished filing and reviewing everything. Everyone is talking about the case so I went ahead and made a little something

So I had a blow out on Sunday and could not make it to my weekend job. I was on my way to Corpus and all of a sudden

I lost control of car, but managed to safely pull over. I noticed my car was shaking a bit, so I slowed down. I figured it was a flat tire, and car behind me stops as well asking if I am okay. I get out and go check the tire and I see that lol, I just put on a smile and I laughed. No sense in getting worried over stuff like this, it happens, we should not let it bring us down. Worse part was that I had to wait a few minutes until my dad arrived with a spare tire, I was sweating my ass off. Ended up paying around $350 to get it fixed. Dad payed half and I paid other half, I didn't have much money to begin with. Oh well lol at least I am ok

Monday I woke up at like 2pm, and chilled with my friends a bit who were down from Bloomington/Victoria. Then I went to a goodbye dinner with some friends. A really good friend of mine is going back to his country Turkey and we all got together to say goodbye. Played a lil pool and just had a great time.

He left today, probably on a plane right now. I hope to visit Turkey in the future, Istanbul to be exact. Umm... I am just writing to write. I am drinking my 2nd monster of the day. I slept late and today I get out at 7pm. First monster was import(with the sticker), other monster was the big one with a lid. Not the BFC, but the next biggest one, that I am aware of.

Hello and thank you for reading my post :)

This is just an update post to let you know whats happening with my blog and site and all this mess.

So I am still updating www.tonystutorials.com, but it is viewable and can be used at the moment, so I have moved it back on my priority list.

What I am working on now is my bio page www.tonyesquivel.com. This will be its own project and will be seperate form tonystutorials. I plan to make this my bio page, I will be offering computer repair services and other small money making ideas. This page will provide my contact info, and all that fancy stuff. So this is my main focus,

I need:
People to vote on which template looks better, not necessarily pro, but better for a personal repair business. I dislike the word business, because that means I have to pay a percent to the government. So it is not my business its my hobby ;)

Barney Frank and Ron Paul will Introduce Legislation on Thursday to Fully Legalize Marijuana

Tony Esquivel: Ron Paul, our Texas congress man once again he is the only republican I like. His idea's and his speech are incredible. Before I was going for Obama I was follower of Ron Paul in last Presidential elecitons. Now he goes and does this :) Can this man get any better?

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) will introduce "bi-partisan legislation tomorrow ending the federal war on marijuana and letting states legalize, regulate, tax, and control marijuana without federal interference," according to a press release from the Marijuana Policy Project that just hit my inbox. Other co-sponsors include Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA). The legislation would limit the federal government’s role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, allowing people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal. The legislation is the first bill ever introduced in Congress to end federal marijuana prohibition.

Rep. Frank’s legislation would end state/federal conflicts over marijuana policy, reprioritize federal resources, and provide more room for states to do what is best for their own citizens.

I called Morgan Fox at MPP to ask about the chances that this bill will get any serious debate time in the House (a fair question, considering that it has only one Republican supporter at the moment). "It's definitely going to get a serious debate, probably more in the media than on the floor of the House," Fox told me. "But I think it needs to be debated on the floor."

What does MPP see as obstacles?

"Someone in the prohibitionist camp could hold it up as long as they wanted, but the slew of opinion pieces that came out last week calling for the end of the failed drug war will give this momentum," Fox said.

While Paul's status as a declared presidential candidate should help with media pick-up, Frank is leading the press teleconference tomorrow, and Paul's not even on the call.

Previous Frank-Paul partnerships include a 2010 op-ed to reduce military spending and a marijuana decriminalization bill introduced in the House in 2009. How to display logo on address bar

Ever wanted your logo to appear on the address bar? Do you even know wtf I am talking about? Well here is a picture

First, you have to create a logo for your site; a very tiny logo to be specific. The size of the logo should be 16x16 pixels and it should be saved as a Windows icon file (logo.ico for example). If your image editor doesn't support saving files in Windows icon format, you can download an icon editor from a shareware site.

Once you have an icon file with your logo, you're ready to take the final step. Following methods will work in Explorer 5.x and higher without having any negative effects on other browsers.

Method 1

This is the easiest method to implement and it will work regardless of the particular page on your site users choose to add to their favorites list. Don't worry if you don't have access to your web site root, go to method 2.

If you have access to the root of your web site, simply save your icon file as "favicon.ico" there. For example, if your web site is "www.tonystutorials.com", your icon file should be available at "www.tonystutorials.com/favicon.ico". The web browser will look for favicon.ico whenever your site is added to the favorites list and if it is found at the root of your web site, the icon will appear next to the link to your site.

Method 2

If you don't have access to the root of your web site, you have to add the following tag to your web page so that the browser will know where to look for your icon. Unlike before, this time you can save the icon under any name ending with ".ico" We'll use the name "icon.ico" and assume that your web site is under the directory "www.tonystutorials.com".

I am bored and this topic, just came to my head after reading an easteregg thread on zoklet.

What is Flavagold and why we post it on our friends pages?

Ok so in highschool they had a lot of websites blocked. Myspace, porn sites etc.

One of my friends, I can not remember who. Discovered a site, which was not blocked. It was a gay black porn website.Don't ask me how they found it, because Idk what they were searching for to come across this. The site was not blocked and the name did not sound pornish. The name was www.flavagold.com.

What me and my friends began doing was, telling other classmates that we had bought some sort of bad ass grill or jewelry form that site. We would convince them to go to the site, and have a cam corder recording their reaction.

Most ppl did not expect a gay black porn site to appear, so they would have funny ass reactions. Most of the times we flavagolded ppl it was during school hours so the thought of being caught on a gay porn website and getting in trouble for it would freak them out as well.

Now the trend has kinda died. We flavagold ppl but we do it more advance now. We either navigate to the site on their phones when they are not looking, or set it as their homepage. Tinyurl it or other form of getting them to visit it, without them knowing its flavagold.

Today I got one of my friends with it, I was making some easter egg's on my website, and I figured if you were looking hard enough to find an easter egg, you probably would not expect to get flavagolded.

Short meaningless post, if you read it thanks ifyou didn't I understand ;p, go out and flavagold someone and watch their reaction.

How to use FireFTP

This tutorial, will teach you how to use FTP(File Transfer Protocol) with FireFTP, which is a firefox add-on.

You will need to use firefox as a browser. If you do not already have firefox then

After you get firefox, download the fireFTP add on. You can press ctrl+shift+a on firefox and it will open up "add-ons". Now click on "Extension" and then click back to add-on's. Now search for fireFtp and install it.

Firefox will need to be restarted. After it is restarted go to Tools or press Alt+T and select FireFTP.

Then go to Create Account

Now all you need to enter is the Host, the username and the password. All that info is located at the end of this blog post.

So :), hosting. What is it and why am I offering it for free? You are probably wondering what the hell that is, or what the catch is. Well keep reading and you will find an answer to your questions.

If you already know what it is and you know how to use it and just want the details, well scroll down to the bottom and the info will be their :)

What is hosting? Well to start off their is different kinds of hosting. The hosting I am offering is, file hosting and to a certain extent site hosting. I will explain that to you in a second.

File hosting - To put it in basic terms, file hosting is when you have a computer somewhere(could be anywhere in the world), that is connected to the internet 24/7 or at least for the times you will be using it. It is connected to the internet all the time because it will be used to store files. Files include, pictures, video's, programs and pretty much any form of file that can be stored on a computer. In my case, its multiple computers :) not just 1 used as host.

Website hosting - Depending on your host, website hosting is technically file hosting. All you do is upload an html file or some sort of file that the browser can read, and you point an address to it and done. You have a website. The type of hosting I offer, is kinda webhosting ,but it may have conflicts, and I'll explain why and how to do it below.

So, as you can see, I have a blog, it was hosted and managed by blogger for free for a while. If you remember my old url http://www.tonystutorials.blogger.com (still works, but redirects). I used to have my blog on a sub domain, now I got it's own primary domain. www.tonystutorials.com . Well a day or two after I got the domain, I felt like I needed hosting(I didn't need it, I can use it, but not need it). I used godaddy.com to host, but godaddy.com throws in a domain name for 1.99, So I jumped on that offer, and bought www.tonyesquivel.com and unlimited hosting for around $14/month.

Now I am sitting here with 2 domains and unlimited hosting, when I don't really need it :). Now what to do? Well I could use the hosting all to myself and back up all the computers I own, but I wanted to be generous and offer free hosting to all of my readers.

What can hosting be used for? Well say you have a picture that you want to show your friend, but you don't want to upload it to facebook. You can upload it to your own host and then send them the link.

If you have a video that you want to share with people and it's bigger than what youtube allows or it violates youtubes rules, you can upload it here and pass them the link. (works for movies to, but that violates the copyright law, but no body is checking ;). )

You can pretty much upload what ever you want except phising sites < lol. I don't care what you upload, but godaddy.com automatically checks for phising sites, so please no phising sites.

So what's the catch? Well I will provide 1 log in, which everyone can access, so your files can and probably will be seen by other people. How to prevent this? Well, only way to prevent this is to get your own user name and password. I am the manager of hosting so you would have to come talk to me or fb me or twitter me. ATM Idk who all I will allow to have their own accounts. I May add a donate button and if you donate at least $1 I will give you your own account, or I may just make it completely free. Remember I am paying monthly, and its not free 2 me, so any kind of donation or even just telling a friend to visit my blog would be nice.

How to host a website? well like I said, my site can be used as a website host. All you have to do, is upload an html file. So say you upload a html file with your homepage. If its called home.html, you would have to go to www.tonyesquivel.com/public/home.html and you would then see your webpage :) have fun

Been busy...

Hello and thank you for reading this, or at least for clicking on the page and tl;dr ing. Every click counts :)

Well anyways, if you keep up with my blog, you probably noticed that I have not posted a good tutorials in a while.

Here is my reasoning. I have been very busy, their are small intervals where I have time to do small stuff, but a lot of times a blog posts may take up to a few hours. Normally because I have to make and edit the video,then upload it, repost it. A lot of times I have to go back to edit or update it, then to advertise the blog post I spent so much time on, I post it on FB, Twitter. A lot of times, I finish my tutorial either late at night or early in morning when less people are online. So I wait for it to be a peak hour time so I can post it.

I have not quit on my blog and will continue posting just give me time. Here is a few things that I plan to write on.

*FTP Programs - using ftp, to upload to a hosting site.
*Itunes - Auto-fill (Thanks to @Rick V.)
*Researching on what effects cannabis has on motor skills(might take a few weeks)
* Firefox Vs. Internet Explorer
*Research and write about Windows 8(not official name)

How to mess with your friends computer

So here is a fun tutorial to fuck with your friends. I didn't have this planned and its just straight from my head, so i'll probably come back and add more stuff or modify some things. If you do them all and add the message at the end, your friends will really be pissed off or scared that their computer got hacked lol :)

Prnt Screen Trick
This one is simple, but you have to be fast. Close all programs, or at least the ones that show on the taskbar. Use the print screen technique on their desktop. Now right click on desktop and go to view> and remove the check mark that says "Show desktop icons" now set the wallpaper to the prnt screen you took of the desktop.

It will look like their icons are still their and they will have a hard time opening their shit.

Mouse settings
On windows 7, hit start and search for "mouse" open mouse and under "Buttons" tab put a check mark on "Switch primary and secondary buttons", under double click speed set it to fast. Now go to "pointer options". Set the Motion to the slowest possible setting. Now under Visibility select "Display pointer trails" and set to Long.

Invert screen
Now this may or may not work depending on the video card the laptop/desktop has. Hold ctrl+alt+(any of the arrow keys). This will flip the screen 180 degrees.

High Contrast
Press ctrl+alt+prnt screen and select yes. Press ctrl+alt+ Prnt screen to set back to normal.

Scaring them with a message

Ok this one is a bit more advance. It is easy to do, but your messing with the registry. I recommend you back up their registry before you modify it.
Hit start and type in "regedit" without the ". on the registry editor go to file>export and save a copy of the current registry. Once your done on the left side bar go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\System and double-click on legalnoticecaption. In the value data, enter the message you want to display. Ima use "Hacked". Now double click on legalnoticetext. and in the Value data enter the message you wish to be displayed. I will enter "Nigga, you done got hacked!!!" now when you reboot the machine before logon you will see the message.

Have you ever been bored in walmart(applies to btown ppl)? Well how about you scare a few ppl and get some laughs in.

What you need:
1. be @ wal mart(best buy, or any store with stereos in public works as well)
2.A phone/ipod with music&Bluetooth or Some sort of audio transmitting via bluetooth device

3. Know a little something about bluetooth.
4.(optional) bring or use your phones camera to record everything.

I recommend you add either a really really loud song(rock) or an annoying song to the device that will be used. Or just any audio that might cause ppl to laugh when played out loud in walmart.

Directons:
1. Go to car stereo section
2. Identify a car stereo with bluetooth technology(now a days most have it)
3. Make sure stereo is connected to a loud speaker
4. Pair your phone/ipod with the stereo via bluetooth
5. Set stereo to transmit audio from your phone to stereo(which will send through loudass speakers)
6. Put the chosen song on pause and walk away
7. Either play the song when your a distance off or wait until someone passes by and hit play to scare the shit out of them.
8. If you get caught, say you were testing out how far the reach of bluetooth on the stereo was and that you did not know it was turned up really loud.

*If the stereo has Aux and you happen to carry an aux with you, you can set it to play via aux, but its not as crazy as when you do it wireless.

Hello and welcome to Project Cairo. If you keep up with my blog or you are interested in computers (fb doesnt count). You probably are wondering wtf is project Cairo?

Its actually just Cairo, I named the blog Project Cairo because I will be writing and recording everything from installing to testing and if it sucks to removing.

What is Cairo?
Cairo is a desktop environment for Windows. Currently in the alpha stages, our goal is to develop a desktop experience that increases productivity and advances current technology standards. With a focus on stability, performance, and productivity, Cairo aims to deliver an interface that exceeds expectations and delivers superior ease of use.

What is a Windows shell?
Cairo is a Windows shell. A shell is an environment for your computer that allows you to browse files, launch applications, and interact with your computer. The current Windows shell is the 'Start' menu, the taskbar, and if you have Windows Vista, the translucent window borders.

So im updating some laptops at work and finish. One of the laptops that I updated was a macbook pro 15". I was bored so i grabbed a camera and did a which has faster start up time test video's.

So first of all to all the geeks and tech ppl out their. This is not a fair test and I am aware of this, I am not hating on either of them or any of that stuff. Simply I was bored, had a mac and a crappy dell pc and i decided to record it. FOR FUN that is all!

Why is this not a fair test? Well first of all look at the Processor, the type, the ram lol thats all I have to say. Also on the mac their was a part where I had to hit Enter for it to log in, and in the first video I was not aware. Since I removed the password I figured It would auto log on, so a second or so went by then I hit enter.
Remember this was just for fun and lols

IMO PC > MAC !!!! :) :)

So recently I have been posting a lot(as opposed to the past), but even more recently I have been posting random shit that is not about tutorials :(, but I don't care. I am bored and am going to write a non tutorial post. If you came here to learn something helpful then get out and go to another one of my post lol :)

So @ work one day I misplaced a flashdrive which has a lot of software that I use to fix ppls computers. Normally I misplace everything and eventually it comes back. So I was not worried about it at first.

Then people started having computer problems and it would take me longer to fix them without my flashdrive.

We have a lost and found area. A student had lost a flashdrive which was same size and really similar to ours. I thought it was ours so I picked it up but it had a lot of weird. stuff, I figured I would use the flashdrive but save all the students stuff just in case the flashdrive was really his/hers.

So i had a flashdrive again and it was back to quickly solving tech issues, student comes looking for flashdrive and I show him the one I thought was ours and he says it was his. So I delete all my stuff and restore his and go back to being flashdriveless :(

We let our boss know, and she is a lady that loves girly stuff and does her nails all the time. So she lets the person who places order know that we need a flashdrive.

A few days later we receive this pink 4gig flashdrive. The person who ordered it originally thought it was for our boss and it was on sale so she got it pink.

So now I walk around fixing peoples computers with a pink flashdrive!

3. Then just go ahead and set the times. On battery means when its running on battery(laptop), plugged in means obviously when its plugged in. 1. go to screen or what ever program you want a pic of ex. Firefox, Facebook page, desktop, etc
2. Press the Prnt screen button on your keyboard which should be above or near your keyboards arrow keys. and above the home|insert|page up|Del etc.

3. The screenshot has now been taken, it might seem like nothing happened but what actually happened was that the screen shot was taken and saved to your clipboard.
4. Open up Paint/Photoshop/Word etc.
5. edit>paste / right-click Paste / or Ctrl+V

Windows 7 - How to Enable Classic Logon Prompt / Disable Welcome Screen

1. Start
2. Search "Edit Group Policy"
3. Open "Edit Group Policy"
4. On the menu to the left go to Computer Configurations > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > double click on "Security Options"
5. on the right of the menu look for the option "Interactive logon: Do not display last user name" which should be disabled
6. Right click and select Properties or double click on it
7. Click on "Enabled" Option and hit ok or apply>ok
8. Remember your username to your computer and password if you have one
9. Log off and you should see something similar to the classic logon.

Do you miss the old style of logging in? or for added security you want to manually log in instead of just clicking on an icon(Welcome Screen)? Well follow the above instructions and your good to go :)

Windows - How to enable Admin Account in Windows 7

Windows 7
1. Start and search for "Computer Management"
2. Open "Computer Management"
3. Expand by double clicking on "Local Users and Groups" from the list on the left column below "Computer Management (Local)"
4. Click on "Users"
5. On the right of the menu find "Administrator"
6. Open "Administraotr Properties" by double clicking on "Administrator"
7. Under "General" tab uncheck the checkbox that says "Account is Disabled"
8. Once unchecked hit "Apply" Or "Ok"
9. Log out
10. Grats. You should now see "Administrator" account and be able to log in.

So did you know windows comes with an administrator account? I am not talking about your account which had administrator rights.

I am talking about the "Administrator" account, which can be accessed by going into safe mode on some Windows Operating systems.

How is this useful? well if you want total control over your computer, then you need to log in the "Administrator" Account. Ever gotten that message that says "need to be administrator to delete" or "need to log in to admin account to modify this" or stuff like that. Then you go to your user accounts and it says your logged in to an administrator account. Well what it is talking about is, logging into the full "administrator" account which is by default disabled.

It is simple and similar through all the windows O/S.

Warning - You should not use the Administrator account as your normal daily account. The reason it is hidden for the average user is because of security. This account has full access to everything, so if you get a virus that takes control of your account you are pretty much screwed :).When you are an admin, every program you run has unlimited access to your computer. A lot of new viruses tend to be profile based, as in they will only target say username "tonye" and if i log in as ex: "tony" then it will seem that the computer has no virus because the virus are all targeting only "tonye". If you use your administrator account daily, and you get a virus that targets only certain users, you will have a tougher time removing it than if it attacked a normal account. I would re-disable it after changing what I needed to change.

Obtain Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 - To edit video or make slideshows

Hello and once again thanks for reading my blog post (bleh)! Well anyways this post is just a quick and simple tutorial on how to obtain Windows Live Movie Maker for Win 7.

Win Live Movie Maker can be used to edit videos or make slideshows and all sorts of cool shit, and the best part is that it is free. It is a pretty good program to do simple projects, but for a more advance project I would recommend other software.

Here is a video made and compiled using Windows Live Movie Maker 2011

So here we go

1. Go to Movie Maker website

2. Click on the download now and save the file to your harddrive(I saved mine to "do
wnloads" folder". The file is small about 1.2mb

3. Open the newly downloaded file which by default is named wlsetup-web or wlsetup-web.exe.

4. If User Account Control(UAC) pops up allow it to run.

5. Now you will have 2 options
a.Install all of Window Live Essentials
b.Choose the programs you want to install

What is the difference?
With option A, it will download and install a lot of software which is included in the live pack, but I do not recommend this option because a the chances of you using all the software it comes with are low, so all you would be doing is Installing programs you will never use which take up space and you would waste time downloading all the programs. I do not know the size of all the programs, but trust me if your in bloomington with btown internet you'll spend a few hours on it.

With Option B, it will list all the software and it will have checkmarks so you put a mark on the ones you want to download and install. So I would 95% of the time go with option B

6. For the sake of this tutorial go with option B and only put a check mark on "Photo Gallery and Movie Maker".

7. Windows will now download and install Movie Maker, once it is done you might have to restart your computer.

8. On Win 7, you can find Movie maker if you go to Start>All Programs and it should be one of the first programs without its own folder. You can also hit start(windows button)> type in (movie) and it should pop up.

9. Enjoy its a simple to use program so I will leave you alone on this. I may post tutorials on it, but I rarely use it. I use other more advance software :)

Today I will be walking us through on how to download videos(flv/mp4.etc) or music(mp3)without installing extra software.

Before I start their is a few things I would like to point out and mention. Music from youtube, most of the time is in low quality as opposed to downloading from a p2p program.
You must have java installed, not necessarily the newest version, but the newest is recommended. If you do not know if you have java or you want to update to the latest version go to http://www.java.com/en/ the click on the big red button that says "Free Javas Download" it will then scan your java and seen if it needs to be updated or if its up to date. If it needs to be updated a big red "Free Java Download" button will appear instead of a Congratulations you have the latest version message.

Ok so now lets begin. First we go to www.youtube.com and browse for a video you would like to download. For this tutorial I will be using "Fast Five Trailer" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf4oDjHUmkY as you can see this youtube video has 4 different quality options, keep a note of that. I will also be using this "Me and serg rappin and shit" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW7Njguw_wg on this video you can see that the quality is only 240p(recorded by a shitty Iphone, Android ftw!!!). The reason I am pointing this out is because a lot of times when I begin teaching someone how to download a video, and they begin to download a few. They quickly ask, why some have really high resolutions and why some do not.

The reason for this is because for example that 2nd video was recorded using an iphone. A lot of phones record in shitty quality(not my G2 with android). You can not have a badass high resolution if the original video or recorder records in crappy quality. So if you begin to wonder why some videos you can download in 1280x720 and some only have the option of 480x360(or crappier) then that is why.

Well anyways find your video first. Like I said I will be using the fast five trailer. So what you need to do is copy the url/link/address which can be found obviously on your address bar or you can click on share below the video and it will display a link/url/address. So you copy this location to the clip board(highlight>right-click>copy/cut).

Once the video is on your clipboard(once you have hit copy) either open a new tab(Ctrl+n(on firefox and chrome)) or simply type in http://www.keepvid.com on your address bar. Once on that page, you will notice a blue bar(blue at the time of this blog post), that says URL, you will paste the link/url/address of the youtube video. and either hit enter or click on download. It will then run the program through the java console, well before it runs it. It will ask you for your permission to use java. If you plan to use this method to download a lot of videos in the future, I would recommend to select the option "always trust this source" or something similar.

Once you give permission, it will then run the applet and will give a list of available downloadable formats. Most videos will have .flv(flash video) .mp4(ipods can play) and the new feature .mp3(audio/it may possibly be another audio format). So if you chose the video to download it as video and to put on your ipod. I recommend you get the .mp4, and depending on the ipod you have, I would go the res best fit for it. If you just want the video to have on your hd or to put on a flashdrive to play in your car or tv or xbox etc. I would select the highest res and mp4 format.

If you just need to download the audio(music) simply choose Download mp3, which will then take you to another page which is really similar to keepvid, and it will walk you through downloading it.I might make this its own post later.

So its done, go to the location of your video and go ahead and add it to your ipod, flash drive, burn on dvd, etc. Its that simple

Also I will come back and add how to use the keepvid bookmarklet which saves a lot of time and is convenient. I hope yo enjoyed this tutorial, i will add pictures shortly and possibly add the bookmarklet in a bit as well.

Android Tutorial - Quickly Changing between Multiple Apps

Hello and thank you for reading this post. It will probably be a quick one, since I only have one simple tip. Changing between apps :)

You probably think its easy changing between apps and it really is,but have you ever been in the middle of an app and you wanted to change to another app. Only problem is, if you change apps and go back to the app you previously were on. It does not send you to the place you left at, a lot of times apps erase and send you back to the main app screen.

Well with this simple as fuck tip, I will show you how to navigate between apps and not lose your place. Ok so most if not all android phones I have seen have 4 main commands.

They have a Home|Menu|Back|Search. Ok so all you basically do is hold down the Home button. The home button will bring up the last 6 apps you used. So when your in the middle of an app and you have to change to a different app. Just tap the Home Icon, go to the app you needed to bring up. After you finish the app hold down the Home button and select the app you want to go back to form the recent list. Your app should go back to the same exact place you were at before you tapped the home button.

Yea it sounds retarded, but it actually speeds things up a lot. Go ahead and try it and get used to it. Ok I guess that's it, idk what else to write so enjoy it and I hope it helps someone. Adios

So I am posting with my phone and probably won't finish this, but this tutorial will be dedicated to mobile phones. Mainly on the android operating system :)

I have no idea what this post is going to be about honestly, but I think I will just throw a bunch of moblile phone tips and then make a blog post for each and expand on them.

So to begin my post. I will list MY top favorite android market apps. I will try to place them in my most favorite order, but sometimes it is hard to compare 2 apps which are different category and do different things. So I will try to do the best to list them in my favorite order, and to give a little explanation on what it does and when it could be useful. Actually nvm. I'll just list apps that I enjoy and are pretty helpful, along with a description of what they do and when they can be best used.

NOTE: all the apps in this list are free. Some times their is a paid version of the app and a free version. The free version is working fine for me, they just added some ads :)

1. Handcent SMS - It replaces the default sms(txt) message handler. With this app, you can add custom ringtones to your sms(text message), you can get a quick reply box without unlocking your phone, and you can customize your sms by a lot. From Fonts to themes, to colors. So many things to modify

2. Andy-83 - it is a ti 83 calculator at the palm of your hands :). It does everything a ti - 83 can do. Best used when you are doing homework and you forgot your calculator at home or in car etc. Probably not useful during class, because professors/teachers will confuse you for texting during class.

3. ConvertPad - A unit converter with a huge selection of converts. If you ever need to convert something, this baby is here to help. Really useful in a lot of situations.

4. K-9 Mail - If your phone came with a crappy email client, then this app is definitely for you. If you have ever used gmail app, it is slow and does not get your email fast enough. K-9 Mail is good at retrieving emails fast :), plus you can save space on your phone and have all your email accounts in 1 app.

5. SoundHound - Ever heard of songID? Well if you ever need to know information about a song that is playing. Just turn this app on, tap it and let it listen. It will identify the author, song title, album, where to buy it and so forth. Best of all is you can favorite the song, so when your downloading songs later you will have a list of the songs you wanted. :)

6. TypingDroid - need to get faster at txting? Or do you just want to know your speed? Maybe you need to improve your speed while at the same time playing a game. This app is badass, it has a speed tester, and a game that improves your txting speed.

7. Alarm Clock - If you need an alarm clock and your default alarm on your phone is limited. Just download this app, it has a lot of useful functions and customization. One of the features they are working on, is allowing the alarm to open an app, such as pandora so you can wake up to your favorite music in the morning.

8. Lookout - lose your phone a lot? This app will track your phone via gps, weather your gps settings are on or off. It will map your phones location, and it will make it go off at your command. Say you misplaced your phone and you can not find it. your all alone and dont h ave another phone to call it with. This app will make the phone sound like a loud siren, so you can more easily locate your phone. Lets say you lost your phone, you dont know if you left it at work, in your car or at a friends house. This app and with internet access and a browser it will map your phones location for you. Ok now lets say your phone is dead, and you lose it. This app can not wirelessly charge it for you, but it does back up all your data. So when your insurance replaces your phone, you can just download everything back to the way it was. As if you never lost it :), it also includes a mini antivirus, that scans all apps to see if they are dangerous.

9. Battery Doctor - This app shows the percentage of your phones battery. It also gives an estimation of how long the battery will last if you are talking on phone via 3g/2g, if your playing music, if your playing video, if your surfing web and your phones idle time. It also displays your battery's temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius so if your phone is every overheating, just manually remove the battery before further damage is done to the phone. It also keeps track of your charge cycles. A lot of people do not know that, it is recommended that you do a full charge cycle, every once in a while. Most ppl will do normal charge cycles, because they are in a hurry, or because they just dont know what a normal is and what a full is. If you do full charge cycles more ofte, you can extend the lifetime of your battery. This app also has a task and app killer. It will kill tasks and apps running in the background so they do not eat up the battery.

Yo no se lo que ustedes estan pagando por gasolina, pero aqui en California nosotros estamos pagando entre $3.75(USD) a $4.10(USD) por gallon. Mi linia de trabajo es en petroleo tengo como 31 aÑos qui,así que aquí están algunas ideas para sacar más valor por su dinero por cada galón.

Aqui en Kinder Morgan Pipeline donde trabajo en San Jose, CA nosotros transportamos casi 4 millones de galones en un periodo de 24 horas por tuberias. Un día es diesel al día siguiente combustible de jet, y gasolina regular y premium grados. Tenemos 34 tanques de almacenamiento aquí con una capacidad total de 16.800.000 galones.

Sólo comprar o llenar su automobil en la madrugada cuando la temperatura de la tierra aun está fría. Recuerde que todas las gasolineras tienen sus tanques de almacenaje enterrados bajo tierra. Cuanto más fría esté la tierra más densa estará la gasolina, cuando se calienta la gasolina se expande, por lo que comprar en la tarde o por la noche ... el galón no es exactamente un galón. En el negocio del petróleo, la gravedad específica y temperatura de la gasolina, diesel y combustible de avión, etanol y otros productos del petróleo juegan un papel importante.

Otro recordatorio, si hay un camión de gasolina bombeando gasolina dentro de los tanques de almacenamiento cuando se detiene a comprar gas,No le eche gasolina a su automobil; más probable es que la gasolina se está revolviendo mientras el camion de gasolina esta bombeando la nueva gasolina, y si usted le echa gas a su automobile puede recoger algo de la suciedad/tiera que normalmente se accumula en la parte inferior.

Windows 7 - God Mode

Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post. So today I will be talking about an easter egg in Windows 7 that is old ,but that not a lot of people know about. Some people are still upgrading to 7 and have not heard of this. This easter egg is called "God Mode".

I was talking to a friend last night and I told him, have you done "God Mode"? and he was confused and thought I was joking around. I then proceeded to show him. It is a neat easter egg ,but I have never really looked into it. So idk how useful it is or if it will be of any help to anyone. That being said, lets get started on showing you how to enable/find this easter egg in 7. As far as I know, it works in all versions of windows 7, but I have only tried it in Ultimate, Professional and Enterprise. It has also been rumored that it works in Vista, but that it may cause problems with the 64bit version.

1. Create a new folder. The location of the folder does not matter. It can be on desktop, documents or anywhere.

2. Now your going to name the folder GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} You can change "GodMode" in the string to something else, but do not modify anything starting with the period after. This step is the most important.

3. You will notice that the folder icon will turn into a control panel looking icon. If that did happen, then you have discovered "God Mode".

As I was saying, god mode is more of a neat trick to show a friend rather than something useful. Most if not all the options in god mode can be accessed through Start>"search programs and files", control panel, or some other way. Also I would like to mention that the name "God Mode" was not chosen by Microsoft. You can name the folder anything you want, and It still works fine. The name god mode was chosen by who ever posted this neat trick first. :) have fun and enjoy

Tips on Pumping Gas

I got an email today about tips on saving gas. I figured I would share it to the public.

Notice: This is in no way mine, I am not the one that came up with the following tips and I do not claim them in any way. I am just re posting this for the benefit of the general public.

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS

I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline...but here in California we are paying up to $3.75 to $4.10 per gallon. My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon:

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose, CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel, the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening...your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.

A one degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Programming Dish Network Remote control

So not to long ago, my parents bought a new tv. I just happened to be down the weekend they bought it. They have Dish Network as their tv provider. The problem was that they had lost all the dish network universal remote codes. The brand of the tv was pretty new as well so even if we had the list of codes, the chances of the codes working would be low. Luckily I remembered how to program any tv without the code. It might take a while but its a safe way when you don't know what code to use. Here it goes.

There are 4 buttons on top of your remote.

There are four translucent function buttons at the top of the remote. They are translucent because they light up red to indicate engagement of the button by being depressed as well as to indicate which of four modes is being utilized by a corresponding depression of another button on the remote. These include "SAT", "TV", "VCR", & "AUX".

Press and hold the translucent "TV" function button at the top middle-left hand side of the remote until all four function buttons light up.

Release the "TV" function button

Press and release either the smaller red TV power button or the singular red power button depending on remote model. The "TV" function button will blink and then light steady.

Now you will use the up/down navigation arrows to find the code for your TV.

To do this, start by repeatedly pressing then releasing the up arrow until your TV powers off. Each time you press the button, the "TV" function button will blink. Take a moment between each press of the button to allow your TV to respond by powering off.

Note: Do not go to fast, because if you do. You might pass and save the wrong code.

After the TV turns off, just press the #(pound) button at the bottom of your remote and it will save the code. Your done :), now enjoy using one remote to control your receiver and your tv :D

Btw hit the "SAT" translucent button one more time to control the receiver. Tv functions automatically use the "TV" button so you don't have to worry.

How to google on your phone without web/data plan

First of all hello to everyone reading this. I have not posted anything on this blog in forever. This is going to be my first post through my phone.

So do you have a phone that takes longer to load www.google.com than it takes you to get to a computer with internet? Need to find a locations number but your phone does not have web/data plan? Well this tutorial is for you.

You need a cell phone with texting capabilities and preferably a texting plan.

Their are a few numbers you can text that will return results via txt. For this tutorial I will be showing how to do it with google, because it is the one I use the most.

The number to text commands or search query's to is going to be 466453 (GOOGLE).

TIP: Add 466453 as one of your contacts and name it "Google" or something simple.

Ok, so how does this work?

Well it is simple, you pretty much just txt commands to that number and it will reply back in text.

Here is a list of commands you can txt and some of the ones I use the most.

"Define word" replace word with a word you need defined. Say you hear someone use a complicated word or geeky word that you do not understand like "latency" or "cogent" or "exuberant" or "malicious".

So then you would text

Did you know that when you install a program, or an update you make a change to your computer? Have you ever change something by accident, and didn't like it and you wanted to go back to how things were? Did you ever notice a virus on your computer, that installed a fake antivirus and is trying to get you to buy it?

Well, all this can be solved using a windows tool called "System Restore". System restore is like a time machine or like an undo command. It basically restores your settings to a certain point in time when everything was working correctly.

Say today my computer is working fine, but tomorrow i get a virus or I install some program that messed up all my settings. I do a system restore to today and everything is back to how I had it.

NOT EVERYTHING CHANGES, their are some things that do not get touched during a system restore, for example files(pictures, music, etc.), documents, browsing history, favorite or emails. You will not lose any changes made to these files

technically a virus is a file, so the virus will still be on your computer, but when a program installs its self it writes to the directory and other locations,so it can know how to function, so when you do a system restore those settings get removed, but the files stay their. So its like the virus is helpless without instructions, but its still on computer. Its like tie-ing a dog, its still their, but it can not hurt you in the mean time and it gives you time to call the dog pound. That is how the virus is, its still their just not active(or as active) and it gives you time to run an antivirus software or manually delete it.

depending on your settings, system restore takes a snapshot of your computer known as a "restore point" and saves it so you can restore your computer back to that point. These snapshots are taken periodically but are also made when you install a program, do an update, or install drivers. You can also make a restore point at any given time you want.

So how do you use "system restore" ? Well first of all make sure you have it on. To check if you have it on do the following.

Windows Xp: Start>Control Panel(make sure its in category view)> Performance and Maintenance> Uppser left under "see also" is "system restore"
or
Start>All Programs>accessories > system tools> system restore

Windows Vista: Start> type in "system restore"
or
Start>all programs> accessories > system tools > system restore

Windows 7: Start > type in " system restore"
or
Start > all programs> accessories > system tools > system restore

Once you open it, system restore will either ask you to turn it on, or ask you if you want to "Restore my computer to an earlier time" or if you want to "create a restore point".

If it select "restore my computer to an earlier time", it will show you either a calendar or a list of dates to where you can restore your computer. If it does show either of the 2, then your computer has system restore on.

So now what I want you to do is to create a restore point, then go back and restore your computer to that restore point. So you can get a feel on how it works. :D, good luck and enjoy, i briefly wrote this, i'll come back and add more vital info and prnt screens and videos :).

Using Shortcuts to Accomplish Tasks Faster and More Efficient

Have you ever seen a geek(me) work on a computer. They are just checking their facebook or logging in to access computer and they do everything so fast. Well one of the reasons is because many of them have their mouse sensitivity and dps to the max(5600dps for me), and another reason they do everything so fast is because they use shortcuts.

Keyboard shortcuts, like Ctrl+w when on Facebook(lol), Alt+tab when running multiple programs, ctrl+t when browsing the internet and the list goes on and on. Well I am writing this blog post to demonstrate how to use and how to differentiate between various types of keyboard shortcuts and also how to pick up new ones without my help : ).

Keep in mind, I will only demonstrate how to use the shortcuts I use the most. Not every single shortcut every made,but I will show you how you can find and start using your own. I will split the shortcuts I use into, 2 categories. The first one being general shortcuts and the 2nd program-specific shortcuts.

I know there is more than 2 categories, but so I do not overwhelm anybody, I will only talk about those 2. So let me quickly define these 2 categories.

(GS)General Shortcuts - Shortcuts that work in the same way on various different programs, Ex. (ctrl+C which is copy). Since I only have 2 Cat. I will be placing Windows shortcuts as well in the GS list.

(PSS)Program-specific Shortcuts - Shortcuts that for the most part only work for 1 program and if used in a different program, they either do a different task or they just do not work.

The reason I decided to divide the 2 is so people do not try to use PSS on a program where the shortcut is not assigned, then they get discouraged and stop using shortcuts when they see that the task they were aiming for is not functioning. Ok, so let me start with General Shortcuts.

Ctrl+C-X are the shortcuts that everyone should use. High light something and press ctrl+c, it will save to your clipboard. Go to where ever you want to place it, place cursor(little arrow), where ever you want to paste it and press Ctrl+V and your done. I will add a video later, and show you the difference it makes in speed. Maybe not at first, but once you get used to it, you will be able to do it fast. Maybe if your good enough you can mix in some of the other shortcuts for example alt+tab to the program you want to paste and just ctrl+v it. That way you dont even touch your mouse.

Ok so now for PSS, since they are program specific, I will try to only name the ones that are on programs that many ppl use. Mainly Firefox, which is an internet browser.

So now that I listed a few shortcuts, How about I show you how to find your own? Well it is not as hard as it seems. Say you need to know the shortcut to open a new tab on firefox(listed above), all you would do is click on File drop down menu, and you should see the option "New Tab" followed by a Ctrl+T. Guess what the Ctrl+T does? It is the shortcut to New Tab.

Q.Can you find the New Window shortcut on your own, without using google or asking someone?(answer is at end of blog).

My First Blog Post

Hello, my name is Tony and this is my first blog post. I was never into blogs or knew what the point of blogging was. I figured it was like facebooking, or other forms of social networking, but I have found some neat blogs that actually help you accomplish useful tasks.

I used to have a site up www.tonytutorials.com, with a lot of simple and complicated computer tutorials that I wrote. I used to love writing tutorials and helping people with computers. I am a geek that likes to help. I took the site down, because I am a college student and every dollar counts when your in college. I have all sorts of payments and need to save my every dollar to have enough to eat ;). So I stopped paying for hosting and let the url go when it expired.

I have heard about blogs and asked a co worker about it, he said its like a journal, I was still confused and decided to start my own and dedicate it to making computer tutorials again for people to benefit from. Since blogging is free, I have nothing to lose. So let this be like my introduction to you of me and to me of blogging.

Let me start by saying a little more about myself. I am 18 about to be 19 :) this month. This is my 2nd year in college. I attend Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. I was born in a small town, in Mexico. Lived most of my life, in a small town in Texas. Now I moved to Corpus Christi, small city to everyone else, big city to me. I moved here because I received multiple scholarships from and for this University. I owe it all to one of my older sisters who is currently my roommate(but she is leaving :( ).

I am majoring in Computer Science, because computers seams to be my strong point, but ironically enough, Math is my weak point. I work at the university in one of the best jobs ever, as a computer support specialist for Title 5.

I want to blog to make a few extra $ form ads, sponsors and donations(need all 3 lol), but most importantly to help you as a reader. If you benefit from just 1 of my blog post, it would make all this typing and thinking worth while. So please feel free to read and hopefully learn. Do not be afraid to ask questions, or leave feedback( - or +). I am new to blogging so bare with me. Oh and I am a horrible speller btw, just throwing it out their.
